John - the only advantages to Library items are:
1. You don't have to change the extension of your parent files to make them work
2. They are less confounding to the inexperienced user
The disadvantage to Library items is:
1. They only change LOCAL files, each of which must then be uploaded to the server
It's an option that should be added to that list.
